Where is Mataking?

Mataking Reef Resort is situated on Mataking Island at latitude 119 degrees and longitude 4 degrees and 35 minutes. It takes less than 1 hour by boat to reach Mataking Island, from the Semporna town in the province of Sabah. The size of the island is about 40 acres and lies on the edge of the continental shelf surrounded by fringing reef of hard and soft coral.

How to get there?

Fly from your hometown to Tawau via Kota Kinabalu or Kuala Lumpur. Book yourself on any of the following domestic Malaysia Airlines or Air Asia Airlines to connect with The Reef Dive Resort’s transfer schedule.

Note

Guests are required to stay at night at Tawau / Semporna town if they cannot make it for the last boat schedule at 15:30HRS from Semporna due to any delay or unforeseen circumstances.
For Guests staying overnight at Tawau Hotel shall, they will be picked up from the hotel early next morning at 07:30HRS to be transferred to Semporna Jetty followed by 09:30HRS boat to Mataking Island.
For a big group of bookings, please enquire at Sales Office for the availability of any special boat or land transfer required. Subject to charge.
Private chartered land and boat transfer services can be arranged a additional charges.
Land transfer service ends on the actual check-out date from Mataking Reef Resort (Mataking Island).
Any flight departure before 10:30 AM on check-out day will be unacceptable.
Local departures are subject to flight arrival time, weather conditions, group size, and/or any unforeseen irregularity. In the event due to insufficient number of guests to fill up our boat/coach, we may need to re-arrange the transportation time table.
Every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of the timetable at the time of printing. However, the schedules are subjected to change without prior notice and travelers are therefore advised to check with Mataking Reef Resort office or its agents on the latest information regarding the most suitable schedule as the resort cannot be held responsible for any delay, cancellation, missed flight or connection.

CHECK IN & CHECK OUT TIME

Please note that our ROOM Check-In time is 14:00HRS and Check-Out time is 11:00HRS.
Any early check-in or late check-out will be subjected to room availability especially during peak season.
